GIFT’s founders Rochel and Moish Tombosky built a successful caregiving agency through which they founded GIFT (Giving It Forward Together), a non-profit 501.3 (c) organization. Their true calling and passion are to fill the need and help the rapid expansion of the senior population in the Pittsburgh area. As a result, they now dedicate themselves full time to this cause. It was through the intimate settings and relationships established with seniors, their families, and caregivers that Rochel gained a clear understanding of the struggles and successes of this demographic. Rochel soon realized that in general, most care and funding for seniors is purely focused on what seniors can no longer do, because of their handicaps and limited capabilities. Do they need to be continuously reminded of this every day? Unfortunately, very little priority is focused on the skills and abilities of our aging seniors; consequently, they are no longer vibrant members of our community. GIFT’s mission fills this void by focusing on creating real tangible impact for our seniors. Our programs, events, and projects enable this hidden population to become essential and to be reintegrated in volunteer opportunities and mentorship. GIFT’s ultimate vision is to empower as many seniors in Pittsburgh and give them the chance to reciprocate back to the community in a significant and relevant way.
