House of Umi is a wellness platform created by two black indigenous queer womxn of color as a sanctuary for healing connections. We offer transformational wellness & personal development programs as well as high quality herb and superfood blends for optimal health.
We have a passion for centering wellness and positive mindset as a means for social justice and global transformation. We provide healing services for all and have had the privilege to work with people all over the world.
One of our primary initiatives is centering wellness and positive mindset in communities of color. For many of these communities, natural health and wellness has been inaccessible because of elitist imaging and economic disparity. This is unfortunate because holistic lifestyle practices originate from indigenous cultures (native to Africa, native to America / Turtle Island, etc.) from which people of color descend. It is our mission to remind our people of our ancestral practices. It is our mission to bring us back to the wisdom of mother earth, Umi.
There are many poc who sincerely and enthusiastically come to us for support in their healing, but who are unable to invest in our services to the extent that they desire.
This is due to the need to prioritize basic expenses (i.e. rent, food, childcare etc.). This is also due to historical inequity. We have witnessed time and time again that our white brothers and sisters largely have easier access to education and resources when it comes to holistic health. We want to provide the same access to poc. In order to prioritize our mission, we need financial support. We are asking for donations so that we can grow House of Umi sustainably and put ourselves in the position to offer scholarships and free educational content to those who need and deserve our support but whom cannot always pay for it.
These funds will be used to launch our upcoming interview summit entitled “Healing in Color” where we will elevate the voices of health and wellness practitioners from poc communities, bringing more awareness to the leaders and practices in this field. This summit will offer a wealth of valuable knowledge and content and be available to the public at no cost. We are also considering continuing this series in the form of a free podcast.
These funds will also be used to launch a program specifically for women of color that supports them growing their own wellness businesses in addition to tending to their personal health.
These funds will also go toward natural healing and emotional support services for women who have approached us with serious reproductive conditions, but whom cannot invest in our services.
By supporting House of Umi, you support our capacity to give the wealth of knowledge and resources we have worked the past 10 years of our lives to attain. We have so much to share, but we cannot do it alone.
By supporting this cause, you also support thousands, of people who will benefit from our free and paid services. Many of those beneficiaries will be women of color who will also be helping countless others as they too grow their wellness businesses.
It is so important for people of color to have support from professionals of their own culture and to have spaces that are welcoming to them. It creates trust, intimacy, empowerment, and deeper transformation.
We have been building in our own personal growth for a long time. It has taken consistent discipline, financial exhaustion, and extensive educational effort in the form of trainings, books, workshops, business coaching and more to get where we have gotten today. We are aware that it will take consistent discipline and effort to continue to grow our platform and reach our goals of making wellness more accessible to all. We are not afraid of hard work and with your support are equipped and ready to work as long and hard as we need to make this dream a reality and to serve the communities who need us.
