Hello.
At midnight on May 1, 2022, a fire broke out in the restaurant on the first floor of the Chinatown building that our father lives in. We grew up in this building and our father has lived there for well over a decade. His apartment and irreplaceable belongings are gone, and we need as much help as we can get to help him move to a temporary place while we look for something permanent.
We lost around $100,000+ in personal items after first responders told us the fire was under control and to leave without grabbing valuable items. Our dad only left with the clothes on his back, his keys, and his phone. While the loss of belongings is unfortunate, our main priority is to secure relocation for our dad. Every donation and share counts.
The building itself was burned beyond repair. The roof caved in, and the entire back half of the building collapsed. It will be demolished and replaced. No one is allowed in the building, including first responders.
Our family is beyond devastated and any help we can get will be forever appreciated. Thank you so much.

Update: Our family is blown away by the generosity of our friends and family. We are sincerely and forever thankful. We updated our goal to include a partial amount of the work equipment that was destroyed in the fire. Our dad wants to return to work as soon as possible. With this new goal, we should be able to help get temporary housing for 4-5 months and the equipment to get back to work during this time.
