Minx Designs & Apartment Fire Recovery for Lani

Hi, my name is Dana; I am a close friend of Lani Nutt, whom you may know as the owner of Minx Designs Hair Salon on Queen Anne hill.

Lani has spent over 25 years in our community building a career as one of Seattle's premier hair designers. Beyond the studio, Lani is an artist herself. She is passionate about interior design, collects and refurbishes vintage furniture, and always is engaged in an art project of some form.

Tragically, she lost her beloved and beautifully curated studio of 17 years and her apartment located above in a building fire Monday night.

The fire is especially devastating, as it comes on the heels of a rough ride through the pandemic that forced her to downsize from her home in Ballard to save her business. At that time, this also meant giving up a lifelong dream of opening a vintage furniture store that she had worked toward for years.

Thankfully, Lani could get out safely with her cat, Betsy. Unfortunately, in a matter of minutes, she watched her entire life's work, art collection, furniture collection, business, and home go up in flames.

Lani is a vibrant, extremely caring, and talented individual who has faced much adversity these last few years and is now displaced, starting from the ashes.
