Fund a minibus for vulnerable adults

Sadly in the early hours of 15th March St Albans Community Association had a minibus stolen from the charities premises.

The thief used a blowtorch to cut off a padlock to get the gate open, cut off a steering lock and removed a tracking device from the vehicle.

This minibus is vital to the charities services. The bus is used to collect people living with dementia, people who are lonely and isolated, people with mental health issues and people living with disabilities. They have breakfast, take part in gentle exercise, lunch and a range of activities throughout the day designed to be fun but also meaningful, to improve mobility, improve fine motor skills, improve or maintain memory, and much more.

They also deliver hot meals at lunch time to people who cannot cook or leave the house so that they can have a healthy nutritious lunch.

The effects of this will be far reaching as for some people it is the only time they get out to socialise, the only chance to get a decent meal, and for some the only chance for them to leave the house.

It will affect approx 100 individuals a week and will have a wider effect on carers and family members.
