Support FUTURE events for POC

Hi! My name is Destiny Anderson or more known as baaabygiraffe / BBYG. If you’ve been following the journey of my series “Black Future Friday” you already know that each Friday of the month of February I curated and hosted events focused around Art, Sex and Food within Black Culture with the intention to create a comfortable atmosphere that encourages meaningful dialogue in order to gain a true understanding of ourselves and each other outside of social media.

Inner Cities around America like in Buffalo NY just don’t cater to BIPOC leaving us to feel neglected due to a combination of historic systemic racism, disinvestment, environmental injustice, and lack of representation.

Soothing the wounds that these issue create takes full sensory strategies that prioritizes the many needs and wants of our community.

During this series so many attendees expressed that they were in a room full of people that they otherwise would never be with and how comfortable they felt to be themselves and connect with others, share opinions, stories, and ideals of the future. We deserve connection.

This inspired me to think about this series on a BIGGER scale. Since the first month series in Feb I’ve partnered up with the BOS Foundation lead by Dr. Eletha Thompson with a mission to collect data, provide resources and support at our events to cultivate a true sense of Black Culture to heal, uplift, and strengthen our culture through education, statistics, empowerment and advocacy.

Buffalo isn’t the only inner city with BIPOC that feel neglected within their communities. I want to increase the energy and amount space taken up by Black Future Friday further by traveling to CHICAGO , NYC, JERSEY, DETROIT, CLEVELAND, MARYLAND, BALTIMORE, PHILLY, DC, VIRGINIA, and building a true sense of community, understanding and appreciation of our Black Culture through honest connection, data collection and meaningful dialogue that’ll strengthen us across the globe.

•••••• The energy was felt so deeply that I have already been asked to bring Black Future Friday to Brooklyn NY on April 14th!!! I am super excited but I did not expect to travel and do this so soon. I’m not prepared for the expenses but I believe in this project so much that I know a way will be made.

This Gofundme will cover all travel and event expenses including:

Flights / Airbnb
Booking local BIPOC talent for each event
Venue expenses (insurance /deposits/ security) Event set up decorations
Providing opportunities for Buffalo locals to travel
Providing resources and information to attendees

Each event will costs about $3k to curate, host, provide resources, and travel

This project may seem impossible but I’ve gotten such amazing feedback from this series that it’s definitely worth a try!!!

Everything that goes into curating and hosting these events is handled 100% by me. your help will allow us to do so much more for our growing community! Thank you
