Help RBG get knee surgery

Hi, our names are Nicole and Lyska and we're fundraising for our dog, RBG (aka Ruth Borker Ginsburg, aka Smoov). RBG dislocated her kneecap and likely ruptured a tendon while running around the dog park this week. She can't use her left hind leg at all and will require an expensive knee surgery. As you all know, we really love RBG and care about her like she's our baby so this has been a very overwhelming week.

The starting cost of the surgery is $5500+ and it is currently scheduled for 8 weeks out. There may be an option to schedule surgery a few weeks sooner, though the cost of that surgery is $7000+. In the meantime, we have to keep her on a steady dose of costly pain medication. The recovery time after the surgery is 2-4 months during which she will need more treatments. She will also require someone to be with her at all times before the surgery and during her recovery so she doesn't jump on or off furniture or exert herself too much. We are also factoring in a portion of the costs we may need for dog sitters as well.

She's a younger dog still at about 7 years old and her expected recovery from the surgery and ability to use her leg again is optimistic. She has been coping fairly well while waiting for surgery, and hopping around the house on three legs, begging for sympathy treats!
